Our family visited Hershey Park during the summer of 2005 and our experience there was much better than expected. I have never been a big fan of theme parks since they all seem to be overpriced and all have basically the same old rides but Hershey Park offers something special for everyone in the family. It is a good idea to get there when it opens, especially in the summer months so you can beat the heat and the long lines. We were able to purchase our ticket at a parks and recreation office that was offering discounts. This may be something to look at to cut the cost on the admission. You can also reduce your admission costs by almost half by entering the park in the after noon usually at 3 or 4pm, see website for more details. The park has an old town feel and is decorated with of course everything Hershey! When you enter the parking lot a trolley will take you to the park enterance. Once inside the park your children along with the young at heart can see how they measure up Hershey style with the candy measuring boards, are you a Reeses peanut butter cup or a Twizzler? These measuring boards are a chart to show you which rides you are able to participate in.

This year 2007 is the 100th year celebration at the park which will include entertainment, fireworks, 100 nights of music, and the unveiling of the biggest attraction Hershey has ever built The Boardwalk At Hershey Park! So if you have ever thought of visiting Hershey Park this year may be the time to do it.
The rides are varied greatly to please all members of the family. Of course there are fast looping roller coasters and wild water rides for the thrill seekers and a wide assortment of kiddie rides for the little ones. And there are also a selection of rides for the whole family to enjoy together or a relaxing ride to offer Mom and Dad some quiet time together. Our favorites were the Kissing Tower, Dry Gulch Railroad, and the Capital BlueCross Monorail, which give you a nice view of the park.

While at the park we also enjoyed the Zoo America located right on the park. This zoo is an 11 acre walk through park and is home for over 200 animals of North America. There is a 3 excursion park package that allows access to the Zoo America, Hershey Gardens, and the Hershey Museum. The website for this information is: www.hersheypa.com/attractions/zooAmerica/visit_the_zoo
The Hershey Chocolate World was fun for the family to see how chocolate came about and to see how the famous Hershey chocolate bar is made. The tour of the chocolate making process is viewed while riding in a slow moving car that is a mild ride for all ages. At the end of the ride we were each given a snack size Hershey candy bar to munch on. You can also have lunch or dinner in one of the restaurants in the building which are of course all Hershey themed. In the souvenior shops there is a little for everyone and all the chocolate you can handle, why not take home a 5 pound chocolate bar!
There is even a Hotel Hershey and Spa where you can spend the night or just relax for a few hours while Dad has the kids at the park. You can soak in a whipped cocoa bath or indulge in a cocoa massage. Why not, it isn't everyday you can have a vacation based all around chocolate.
